Advancing Advocacy Strategies

Leadership teams are often so consumed with the day-to-day of achieving deliverables and placating funders that they lack the bandwidth to chart a course that challenges the underlying systems at play. I'm interested in helping organizations think about the role advocacy can play in achieving their mission, and helping funders critically assess their approach and outsized impact. I also recognize that executives and senior teams are often so busy doing, that they forget to communicate with key stakeholders, including their staff members, leaving folks to develop their own narrative and assessment. Here are some ways I can help:

  • ​Sourcing feedback from nonprofit clients, community partners, staff, and board to identify areas of focus and strategies for systems-level advocacy engagement to complement programmatic and service offerings

  • Advising donors, funds, and foundations seeking to critically examine the source and societal impact of their wealth, the effectiveness of their current philanthropic approach, and the feedback of their beneficiaries on what is needed to achieve real partnership in wealth redistribution and the advancement of social justice

  • Crafting effective communications at critical junctures to ensure stakeholders are informed with accurate information, preparing testimony and public comments to support advocacy efforts, drafting speeches, op-eds, and other influential communications
